To paraphrase Winston Zeddemore, Ghostbusters III would appear to have the tools, but not the talent.
Adding to the almost never-ending will-they-or-won't-they speculation over a potential Ghostbusters III, co-star Rick Moranis admitted Wednesday that he would consider reprising his role, but has little enthusiasm for the idea.
Moranis, who played the pitiful, briefly possessed Louis Tully in the 1984 smash Ghostbusters, discussed the possible sequel in a CBC Radio interview on Wednesday.
"I wouldn't say no to anything at this point. I don't know how interested I am in doing what I've already done," he told Q host Jian Ghomeshi. "I'm really dubious about the whole sequel thing... I think I'm more interested in something new."
Moranis last appeared onscreen in 1997: he's largely embraced music over movies and television. Outside of two Bob & Doug McKenzie projects, last month he released his third album, entitled My Mother's Brisket & Other Love Songs.
Rumours of a new Ghostbusters instalment have swirled for years, but the project has hit several stumbling blocks, particularly from holdout star Bill Murray.
Screenwriter and co-star Dan Aykroyd, who co-wrote the first two films, reportedly penned a script for Ghostbusters III in the 1990s and was fine-tuning it alongside Canadian movie mogul Ivan Reitman in 2011. Meanwhile, director and co-star Harold Ramis has said he's on board for a return.
Murray, who's moved into less comedic territory in recent years, apparently shares Moranis' lukewarm attitude. In 2011, he reportedly told Aykroyd: "No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts."
