Greg Plitt, actor and fitness guru, fatally struck by train in Burbank, Calif.

Greg Plitt, American actor, fitness instructor and former model, is dead after being hit by a train Saturday in Burbank, Calif.

The star of Bravo's reality television series​ Work Out was 37.

According to Los Angeles television station, KABC, the former Calvin Klein model was filming with friends near the tracks of the regional train service at the time of the incident, 

Witnesses say Plitt was holding a camera when fell into harm's way.

"He had on all black. The train went by. I saw him stumble over the tracks. He had a camcorder in his hand," a Metrolink passenger told KABC.

It's not clear what he was shooting, but at least one workout video posted on Plitt's website show the fitness guru exercising near or on Metrolink tracks.

Burbank police say Plitt may have under estimated the speed of the approaching train. 

The Baltimore-born actor and model appeared on 250 fitness magazine covers and was "undisputedly America's #1 male fitness model," according to Pitt's website.

He also served five years in the U.S. Army.

Plitt's acting resume included appearances in a number of Hollywood movies including The Good Shepherd with Robert DeNiro and Matt Damon.

He also acted along side Christian Bale in the sci-fi action film Terminator Salvation.
