The CBC was honoured Tuesday at the annual Women in Film and Television - Toronto (WIFT-T) Crystal Awards.
Sally Catto, general manager for programming for English television, received the award for creative excellence.
Catto oversees the strategic direction and programming of original and acquired scripted and unscripted programming for the CBC.
The Crystal Awards also presented the CBC Business of Broadcasting Mentorship to producer and writer Courtney Graham. The program provides an emerging Canadian female producer with a one-week experience at CBC Television.
Established in 1988, WIFT-T's Crystal Awards promote and celebrate the achievements of Canadian women and men in screen-based media.
Barbara Bowlby, president and chief operating officer of Insight Productions, won the award for Outstanding Achievement in Business. Actor Anne Dorval won the International Achievement Award. Corrie Coe, senior vice president of independent production at Bell Media, won the Mentorship Award and the Special Jury Award of Distinction went to Trina McQueen, the former head of CBC News and now adjunct professor in Arts and Media Administration at York University.
Crystal Award winners are nominated annually by WIFT-T members and selected by an independent jury of past award recipients.
The event was hosted by Hélène Joy of CBC's Murdoch Mysteries and was held at the Arcadian Court in downtown Toronto.
