As music lovers get ready for the 2014 edition of Record Store Day on April 19, CBC host Tom Power turns his weekly look at new music to a trio of limited-edition vinyl picks. His biggest piece of advice? Get out there early!

The Hamilton, Ont.-based troupe Arkells might be known for indie rock, but its members also have soulful sides. The band has staged live shows of Motown covers and have now put out a rare vinyl release to reflect that: The Motown Sessions.

It's been a few years since brooding rockers R.E.M. called it quits, but the '80s and '90s-era band's influence continues. Unplugged: The Complete 1991 and 2001 Sessions is a limited, four-LP set of stripped down R.E.M. tunes, from more esoteric art pop to smash hits like Losing My Religion and It's the End of the World.

Finally, as André 3000 and Big Boi of the Grammy-winning hip hop duo Outkast reunite this summer at several major festivals, the limited edition (only 4,000 copies) vinyl release Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik revisits the pair's innovative 1994 debut album.
