Sunny and innovative music from up-and-coming artists take the spotlight in CBC host Tom Power's weekly picks of new music.

Coeur de pirate takes a different road for her latest album, a soundtrack to accompany the TV series Trauma, by presenting covers of 12 anglophone hits. The Quebec singer-songwriter starts with songs from a wide variety of artists (including The Rolling Stones, Kenny Rogers, Amy Winehouse, Bon Iver and the McGarrigle sisters) and completely makes them her own.

Next up, Australian indie rockers Boy & Bear offer up more "incredible, sunshiny, acoustic pop," Power says, with their second studio album Harlequin Dream. Will they be the next Mumford and Sons?

Finally, young Saskatchewan-based duo Kacy and Clayton dig into the depths of English and southern American folk tradition for gems and present them in a fresh, contemporary style in their new album, The Day Is Past & Gone.
