Fresh material from a British music icon and two folk-rock favourites take the spotlight in CBC host Tom Power's weekly pick of new releases.

Earlier this year, David Bowie burst back onto the music scene with The Next Day, his first new studio album in a decade. Devotees eager for more will snap up the music legend's The Next Day Extra, an expanded three-disc collector's edition that features additional songs, remixes and a bonus DVD.

Talented Toronto folk singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Basia Bulat gets more experimental on her third album Tall Tall Shadow. "Think Joni Mitchell meets The Arcade Fire," says Power.

Meanwhile, Seattle folk-rock troupe The Head and The Heart is back with a new studio effort: Let's Be Still. One might describe them as a funkier Mumford and Sons or perhaps a Latin-influenced Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. All comparisons aside, they have an original sound music fans should check out.
