What's the greatest book-to-film adaptation of all time?

Each September, the entertainment world turns its attention to the Toronto International Film Festival, one of the most prestigious and influential festivals of its kind. And just like last year, a new crop of literary adaptations is generating lots of big buzz, from the violent and gritty Child of God by American author Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men) to Life of Crime by the late king of cool Elmore Leonard.

But let's take a step back and pay homage to the great literary adaptations of the past. We want you to toss us some suggestions in our form below. Nominate your favourite literary adaptation of all time. We'll compile the Top 10 adaptations and put it to an online vote.

NOTE: In an effort to encourage a diverse array of suggestions, adaptations that are part of a franchise (i.e., any of the Harry Potter/Hunger Games/Lord of the Rings/Narnia/Bond films) will be considered as a nomination for the franchise as a whole, and not the individual work.
