Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon have plenty of things in common; they're both proud Bostonians, both successful actors, and both have anecdotal reputations as all around good guys. They even boast the same, similarly strapping All-American good looks -- but Wahlberg and Damon are not the same person.

Star-spotter Angelique Dormevil learned this fact the embarrassing way recently after spotting Matt Damon on the street and asking to take a photo with him.

Only it wasn't Matt Damon in Dormevil's photos -- it was Mark Wahlberg.

Eager to show off the photos of her mother posing with the celebrity, Dormevil texted them to a friend writing "We saw Matt Damon."

The unidentified friend texted back a screenshot of Wahlberg's IMDB page, making it clear that Dormevil was mistaken.

"lmao, I screamed 'MATT DAMON!!!' Dormevil wrote back. "He didn't correct us at all."

Wahlberg, ever the good-humoured guy, posted the exchange on his Facebook page Tuesday with the caption "Close enough. :)"

"Haha I can't believe this went VIRAL! Sorry for the mistake," Dormevil wrote in the post's comment section. "My mom and I saw him and I yelled out Matt Damon. I knew all his movies but I confused the two awesome actors."

Many around the web are sympathetic, admitting that they too might have mistook the two actors, who starred together in 2006's The Departed.
