Actor Dustin Hoffman is recovering after being treated for an unspecified cancer, according to a spokeswoman for the Hollywood icon.
Publicist Jodi Gottlieb declined to reveal details about the 75-year-old actor's diagnosis, the specific treatment he received or what kind of cancer he had. The news was first reported by People magazine.
Hoffman is "feeling great and in good health," she said, also noting that the cancer was "detected early and he has been surgically cured."
He will also undergo further preventative treatments.
The Oscar-winning American actor is known for his versatility and sensitive portrayals of misfits and antiheroes. His wide-ranging credits span comedies such as Tootsie, I Heart Huckabees and Meet the Fockers to dramas such as Midnight Cowboy, The Graduate, Kramer vs. Kramer and Rain Man.
His most recent projects include the acclaimed but cancelled HBO horse-racing drama Luck and making his directorial debut with the 2012 opera singer comedy Quartet.
Hoffman is slated to appear in the upcoming comedy Chef, set for release in 2014, with Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr.
