Hollywood icon Al Pacino is bringing his eagerly attended one-man show Pachino One Night Only to Toronto in September, the lone Canadian date so far. (Carmen's Group)
Who inspired Tony Montana's accent in Scarface? Why was Al Pacino not originally favoured for The Godfather? And where exactly did Scent of a Woman's now-famed "Hoo-ah" come from?
Acclaimed actor Pacino is apparently ready to answer those and other fan questions in Toronto this fall.
The Hollywood icon is bringing his eagerly attended one-man show Pacino One Night Only to Toronto's Massey Hall on Sept. 10 (incidentally smack dab in the middle of the undoubtedly star-studded 2013 Toronto International Film Festival).
The film, TV and stage star has already toured his show to U.S. cities this spring as well as brought it across the pond to London's Palladium in early June (an event that sold out in just 24 hours).
[ccType=videoclip id=2398937470&mediaid=2398935689& category=News/Arts_and_Entertainment]Despite some subsequently advising the much-lauded Triple Crown actor (he's one of the rare folks who has won at the Oscars, Emmys and the Tonys) not to give up his day job, we can't imagine that would deter his myriad devotees. Who else could brag of having a diverse fan base that spans rap icon Snoop Dogg to the brilliant Shakespearean thespian Mark Rylance?
Like the earlier ones, the Toronto show (the sole Canadian date at the moment, organizers told CBC News) will include an onstage interview with Pacino — who incidentally isn't easiest to nab for chats — as well as a Q&A session with audience members.
After a career that has includes countless films (from Serpico to Scent of a Woman), indelible stage roles like Shylock in The Merchant of Venice and memorable TV turns in productions like Angels in America and Kevorkian tale You Don't Know Jack, there will definitely a lot to talk about. Tickets go on sale Thursday.
What would you ask Al Pacino?
