CBC's George Stroumboulopoulos to host CNN show

CBC's George Stroumboulopoulos is taking his chat show format to CNN this summer, the U.S. network has announced.

Stroumboulopoulos has hosted a nightly interview show on CBC Television since 2005, initially called The Hour and now George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight.

He will host a similar show once a week on CNN, with interviews filmed in Los Angeles in front of a live audience. CNN said the show would be similar to George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight.

The 10-episode, hour-long series will air Fridays in prime time.

CBC's Kirstine Stewart tweeted "congrats" to Stroumboulopoulos, but confirmed he will return to CBC.

"Don't worry, Canada's best BF not going too far for too long," she posted on Twitter.

Stroumboulopoulos previously hosted the short-lived talent show The One: Making A Music Star in the U.S.
