Grey won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Cabaret. The show tells the story of a nightclub entertainer and her encounters with two men set in 1930s Berlin.

On Friday, he will donate a hat worn by a gorilla in the film's well-known musical number If You Could See Her to the museum.

The donation and a screening of Cabaret will mark the film's 40th anniversary.

The hat from the film will join other objects from Grey's costume —which include a wig, cane, pink satin vest, shoes and special makeup box — that he donated to the museum in 1989.
