Located on a side-street in downtown Toronto is Malabar Limited, one of Canada's oldest costume shops and a place where dressing up is a yearlong affair, not only at Halloween.
Staffers take pride in delivering on the eclectic requests they're regularly presented: from outfitting dancers to creating costumes for opera troupes to finding a superhero suit that's just right for a walk-in customer.
"Once you get them with all the stuff on, people are much more receptive to the clothing and you can see them getting more into the character," says Malabar's Doug Begoray, a self-taught historical costume specialist.
